| The Poynton Royal British Legion Concert Band was adopted. About this time Charles Oldfield | |
| introduced Double Reeds (Oboe and Bassoon). | |
| 1987 | The band entered its first competition at St. Helens Regional Competition on the 3red May, 1987 |
| and was awarded the 1987 Merit Award Shield. | |
| 1989 | Additions to the bands appearance band pennants and a band notice board, courtesy of |
| Dorothy Livesey brought the band closer to the British Legion. | |
| 1991 | Charles Oldfield retired and was given a Christmas presentation at the Sale Golf Club |
| but still deputises for the band. | |
